“Development” is a word that has different meanings for different people. A toddler’s Milestones by the 2nd Year development is exactly the same, depending on the toddler!
But we get it; as a parent, you might be anxious and curious if your child is on track with their developmental milestones. We need to first understand that there are multiple types of development aspects. Let’s get into it-
Physical and motor development-
- walks without support.
- sits without support.
- runs and jumps
- can climb up and down furniture without support.
- can throw and catch balls and other toys.
- can drink from a cup and eat with spoons.
Verbal and language skill development-
- says short, two- to four-word sentences.
- shows objects when they are named.
- recognizes common body parts.
- recognizes familiar individuals.
- Imitate people and their words.
- follows simple directions.
Social and emotional development-
- Get along with other children.
- independent and starts having preferences
- starts to develop stories in their mind and visualize things.
- imitates people around
Brain Development-
- can recognize and sort shapes based on colors.
- can follow simple instructions
- Building toys and puzzles is an easy task for them.
- Start developing a dominant hand.
- Plays are simple, make-believe plays.
Babies develop in their own time, so don’t be worried if your toddler isn’t ticking all boxes, give them the support, encouragement, and independence to try new things. Consult a doctor and get them checked if anything serious is involved.
