Kitchen cleaning hacks

There is no place like home. Between the hustle and bustle of our over-demanding lives, what soothes is the comfort our homes provide. And home-cooked food further adds to the coziness. But did you know the kitchen is the most germ-filled room in every house? Those germs can provoke a variety of illnesses, starting, but not ending with the flu and the common cold. So thorough cleaning is important for your health and the health of your family.

We at Mommunity are eager to make your life easier with every article and we are pleased to show our new collection of hacks for flawless kitchens.

1. PREVENT KITCHEN SINK FROM CLOGGING

To prevent your kitchen sink from clogging, make sure to pour boiling water down the drain at regular intervals. This will make sure that the oils in food products run down the drain as opposed to building up on the interior surface of pipes which is what leads to clogged drains. Pour some baking soda down the drain prior to using the boiling water. Baking soda is a great cleaning agent and helps in absorbing any odors.

2. CLEAN THE BLENDER IN 30 SECS

After your morning shakes are done, fill your blender halfway with warm or hot water, and add a few drops of dishwashing liquid. Run the blender for about 10 seconds after covering it with the lid—the lather will build up quickly! Pour out the soapy water and rinse well.

3. VINEGAR KITCHEN HACKS

Vinegar can be found easily in our kitchens. Most of the mess which cannot be removed easily like grease, oil stains, and handprints can be removed with the help of vinegar. Fill vinegar in a spray bottle, now spray it over the area which needs to be cleaned and wipe it after 5 mins. This will help you keep your fridge clean all the time easily.

4. WAX THINGS UP:

A protective layer of auto wax is rightly a possible way to typically keep smudges from the visible surface of your stainless-steel refrigerator. It also creates an appealing shine on your modern appliances. After proper cleaning, use a clean rag to properly apply a thin coat of wax to the polished surface of your stainless followed by a soft, clean rag to polish it to a beautiful shine.

5. MAKE THE KITCHEN FAUCET SHINE AGAIN.

The process of cleaning faucets will be easier and faster if you do the following:

In a Ziploc bag or a small plastic bag add the magical solution of vinegar and soda, enough to cover the faucet. Now put the bag over the faucet and secure it with a rubber band. Wait for about an hour before you take the bag off. Wipe off the remaining solution and scrub off the adamant rust with an old toothbrush.

6. POLISH UP STOVE BURNERS BY BARELY TOUCHING THEM.

This hack will not involve scrubbing.

Take a Ziploc bag and fill it up with 1/4 cup of ammonia and put your stove burner inside and lock the bag. Do not use more ammonia than needed — the fumes will do the trick, not the solution.

Leave it overnight and wipe off the gunk with a sponge or a wet towel.

7. GET OFF BAKED ON GREASE

Baking dishes are the usual victims of “un-scrubbable” spots to make them look fresh and new:

Cover the part that needs cleaning with a dish soap and baking soda mixture now pour hot water over it and let it sit for 15 minutes. Take a piece of aluminum foil and crumble it up and scrub the dish with the aluminum ball.

8. CLEAN YOUR KITCHEN SPONGE

Sponges can transfer a lot of bacteria from one plate to another, so you must clean them at least once every couple of days. Here’s a way you can do it:

To soften the sponge and get rid of the dirt and oils from it and kill the bacteria — microwave the sponge with a glass of water for a few minutes on high, now put it in the dishwasher on a long cycle with other dishes, this will kill the nasty smell. You’ll get the cleanest sponge you’ve ever had, aside from buying a new one, of course.

9. RENEW RUINED PANS

Making your pots and pans look like they are brand new is a pretty easy job if you know this trick.

Pour a thin layer of water into the pan and add a couple of splashes of vinegar and bring the water to a boil. Now take the pan off the stovetop and add a handful of baking soda gradually — that way the solution won’t fizz over. Start scrubbing after pouring the solution out of the pan. If required, you can scrub the stubborn stains with a little bit of soda paste (soda plus water, making a paste consistency).

10. MAKE KITCHEN TILES LOOK BRAND NEW

Large or small — any type of tile harbors a lot of dirt. Let’s apply some chemistry lessons to them! Sprinkle baking soda over the tiles. Then use a spray bottle filled with cleaning vinegar (or a 1/4 cup of bleach) and spray it over the baking soda. Let it fizzle for a few minutes then scrub the dirt away. Don’t wait too long though otherwise, the dirt will settle back in.
